General cleaning

When cleaning leather there is nothing more affective that a damp and clean cloth. Ideally, on a daily basis give the handbag a gentle wipe before drying off. If your leather handbag has any metal or brass, then a smear of brasso or other metal cleaning product will suffice in adding some additional shine.

Tackling stains

The removal of stains from your leather handbag is a doddle with the right mix; 10 parts water to 1 part gentle washing up detergent. Stains are never fun but gently dabbing at the stain with the mix will remove the stain, it most circumstances. If the stain appears stubborn just leave it to dry out before trying again, scrubbing the stain will only smear it deeper in to the leather.

General care

Leather is a great material and does age well providing it is cared for well. Keep away from direct sunlight and don‘t expose to heat. Aging naturally, leather can add character to your handbag so being extra vigilant should not be a chore.

If you go periods without using the leather handbag then store it away in the protective cover it arrived in. Best place is in the cupboard away from external forces that can damage the leather.

Rain

Prolonged rain on a leather handbag can disfigure it and result in it losing some of its shape. Try and keep it covered in heavy rain and when you do get home give it a wipe with a soft cloth or towel. If you are unfortunate enough to be caught within a prolonged storm and the handbag is very wet, remove you belongings from it and give it a good wipe and stuff it with old clothing to help it keep its shape.
